Starting the Conversation on Facebook

Since my last post about the JDRF Advocacy Partners group on Facbeook, we have added over two dozen new folks! The most exciting part about these new partners to the group is that many of them are also asking their friends to join and adding them to the group!

Your recommendation to your friends to join the JDRF Advocacy Partners is the perfect example of how this group should work. As more good people join the more likely they will ask their friends to join as well. That’s the direction we want to take this group: a platform for our advocates to get involved in what we do on a daily basis in our Washington, DC office.

How, you ask? It’s easy and it’s a simple act of sharing your ideas, thoughts, questions, and concerns. Facebook makes this easy through its new groups like the JDRF Advocacy Partners. If you want to share something or ask a question, all you have to do is post it in the group. What I like most about these new FB groups is that it gives us an opportunity to get a conversation going with each other in real time and become a better and more informed type 1 community.

If you haven’t already, stop by and request to join the group and someone from our team will add you. However, it doesn’t just stop there! Once you’re in, leave a comment or thought so others can respond. We’re hoping that when you, our partners, are active in the group then we can start having FB brainstorming sessions on regular basis and really listen to what you want or need us to do!

Happy facebooking! šŸ˜‰
