jessicolaMine told me to drop my basal rate for an hour before the workout to let in work,
I meant drop my basal an hour before to let it kick in or take effect. Guess I shouldn't type so fast!

Jessicola-
I am going to try that then...the trial and error. I tend to workout in the evening as well as during the day now (I want to burn more calories) I will try it an hour before I work out. Do you just do a temp basal change and how do you bypass it starting at 12am?
Hey Nicole, I do know the healthiest way to lose weight is to drop 1-2 lbs/week. This will allow you to maintain your muscle mass the most while losing fat. If you lose weight more rapidly than this, you will lose significant muscle a long with the fat, and increase your chances of regaining the weight.
1lb = 3500 calories, so don't put yourself at a deficit greater than 7000 cal/week (2 lbs)Hope this helps, Dylan

Dylan, that does help. So if I am eating 1200 calories a day and working out burning about 300 calories a day four days a week I should start to see the weight peel off???
I do MDI, so I can't speak to being on the pump. This may sound completely random, but if you like to dance and want to make it part of your excerise routine, I highly recommend swing dancing. I started taking classes/going to dances about two months ago and I've lost over five pounds without drastic changes to my diet. I also go to the gym, but dancing is really my favorite way to exercise because I have so much fun doing it!Just something to consider. :)
Awesome idea Kristen :)

Good luck experimenting! Yes, I do a temp basal rate and change it about an hour before I know I'm going to be exercising. I usually leave the temp rate going until I'm done working out, and then cancel it.
I'm not sure I understand your question about the bypassing at midnight. What are you wanting to know?
Jessicola,
I guess I have never used a temp basal...I just know when I change my basal it always goes in affect at Midnight.
Just be careful you don't compromise good control for the weight loss. That has gotten me into a whole lot of trouble in the past. When my A1C was over 14, I was 85lbs, and now that it is in the upper 5's and with a healthier diet and more exercise I am now 160. That part is kind of depressing, but I'll trade that for not having to get any further complications.
I'm glad someone else gained weight because of being healthier! I was down to 127 when my A1C was 10.8 when I was first diagnosed. I felt good about my weight, but horrible about everything else! Now that my A1C is lower (7.4) I weigh 157. I also don't feel great about my weight, but it is good to know that the rest of me is healthier!

I would suggest signing up for a fitness class! It's great to exercise in small groups, and I find I work out harder when someone is pushing me:)
Oh and sign up with a friend if you can. Then you make each other go, and it's a fun thing to do together.
Weight Watchers is something that everyone should be able to live with! I lost 25 pounds following weight watchers! You can still eat things you want, you just have to stay within your point limit for the day/week. I do everything online! It's pretty easy!
