  • Melinda, I know tests might not be back yet, but I'm wondering what the doc said at the appointment?

  • There is a study called Trial Net that can test if your children have the genetic disposition for Diabetes.  It is free and they will test them yearly and tell you if they have any of the markers.  If they find the markers they will can keep an eye on them and I know some people who have gotten into trials to try to delay the onset of diabetes.

She looked at the log I had kept and even though he has been normal lately, did not like the highs.  She gave us a referral to a pediatric endo and we have an appointment on the first.  They want him to have labs drawn before then so we'll probably do that next week.

  • I decided to back off the 'crazy train' for a bit.  His other readings have been normal so I haven't tested him in about 3 weeks.  I also talked with my husband and we decided that without any conclusive evidence we didn't want to subject him to lab tests and doctor visits that at this point would be unnecessary.  It doesn't mean I'm not worried, just being more laid back about the few highs that he had.  I can't be absolutely certain that his hands were clean on the really high reading.   So for now, I'm playing it by ear and keeping an eye on him for any symptoms that may trigger me to believe something's up.

Thanks for all your support guys!! And if anything changes, I'll be sure to let you all know.

  • Heyy,

I am a T1, and I am a teen. I was diagnosed 2 years ago. You guys keep saying that you are waiting for the test results. What kind of test did he have to take. I knew I had diabetes just after one finger ***.
