  • I have big time trouble, usually when I get home from school......I am a teacher.  My control is usually really good throughout the day, but when I get home, I just feel like crashing.....

  • I am absolutely crazy when my bg is high! I get very aggravated and mean!!! I hate it!

    Diagnosed at 19 on February 21, 2009.

I am on a Animas OneTouch Ping since July 2009.

  • High: Impatient, easily irritable

Low: Overwhelmed, sometimes very depressed to the point where I want to die (but I always figure out that I'm low :) ), occasionally combative/resistant/angry

I am a painter and when I am in pretty normal range, I produce a lot of work.  When it is all over the place I find myself just pushing paint around unable to focus and basically creating a big mess.  That's when I know my sugars are messed up and it creates a lot of anxiety.  I am suppose to have work done by the latest , end of September for a group show.  I am trying to stay positive, and that I will get it all done.

Does anyone have trouble being productive in work or school when Diabetes seems to be in the driver's seat?

When I'm low, I find it nearly impossible to get work of any kind done.  When schoolwork becomes extremely overwhelming I always check because I know that I will be low.  Practicing bassoon also becomes more difficult when my blood sugars are off.  Recently, I was practicing at night and I started to fall asleep while playing.  I ended up being 51, even though I just thought I was tired.  Times like that are when I feel the most frustrated with diabetes.

  • Thanks, you put it quite well.  I guess everyone here understands what I am talking about and I appreciate it very much.  I am trying not to put pressure on myself otherwise nothing will get done and I will feel like giving up.  Gosh, it just stinks sometimes doesn't it!

  • I feel the same as everyone else that posted. Usually I am at my worst in the 250 range. Short temper and as I have been told I have a tone in my voice. My bf usually would notice before I would. Which he would never understand how I could not "know" I had a tone in my voice or was being short. I can handle my diabetes and am not angry in anyway that I have it, but this is one thing about it I could do without. It's nice to see that I am not the only one who has a hard time with it. Thanks for not making me feel so alone.

  • that was really wonderful to read on

    Edit
  • Oh definitely. I feel much better when I'm between the UK's good 4 to 8 range, than any other place on the BG scale. I'm my most moodiest when I'm high - especially when over 10. What's been doubley upsetting for me recently is my highs are being caused by stress... noticeably so late in the afternoon when I'm finishing work, which is starting to encourage low feelings. I keep reminding myself though so I don't slip too far. I am seeking help. :(

  • I can definitely relate here!!! I feel like my body is very sensitive to many factors in life. Whenever my bg goes high or low, it definitely affects my well being and mood. I feel very sick when high and obviously sick when low. I hear that some people don't notice much when they run high but I can feel it and I get very moody.....then think, "could it be my bg?" Sure enough, most of the time it is. It is quite frustrating to think that we need the insulin to survive but then it interferes so much in our everyday lives!!!

  • Whenever I'm low, I get shaky, hungry, and moody. By "moody", I mean I get grumpy, meaner, (yes, I addmit it), and I tear up WAY easier. When I'm high, I'm SUPER sleepy, thirsty, and always have to go to the bathroom. Of course now that I'm in the stupid honeymoon period, (yes, it truly is stupid), I'm low ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
