Acting with Diabetes and Things People Say

I have diabetes, and I act.  I was diagnosed less than a year before I landed on of my biggest roles.  I got Scout, in To Kill A Mockingbird.  I am super excited and it just goes to show that you can really do anything with type 1.  I thought that once I was diagnosed that I couldn't do anything other than test and dose.  A little shell of a person.  But, my diagnoses helped me by giving me an edge of confidence and real emotion.  I am delaney511, and I am and actress and type 1 diabetic.

Now for Things People Say.  I have some very different comments that are said to me.  Yeah, I bet everyone have been asked if they were going to die and does it hurt.  But, people have also told me I ate to much sugar as a baby.  No.  And that they say that they know what I am going through.  I bet not.  And then people tell me that diabetes isn't too bad.  IT IS!  Gerrrrr.  People just don't know what you are going through, except for maybe your doctors and other diabetics.  We are there for each other, type ones!

  • Awesome, I act sometimes too. I live in St.Louis and I'm just an all around artistic person but I usually only perform at small events or around close friends. Good to know that theres other diabetic actors out there too - Morbid Poet
