I've been paying more attention and being even more exact than usual the past few days to my numbers and it's helping a little. I've also adjusted my basal rate on my omnipod a few times which is a trial and error kind of situation. Usually diabetes is not so bad, but in situations like this it's just so frustrating!

Forum Post: Re: Panic attacks and PMS?

Sally, I never thought about this, but I'm now realizing that I have more panic attacks when I'm PMSing...wow...I swear lol

Forum Post: Re: New post about pizza at www.everydayhighsandlows.com

Don't you just hate pizza carbs? Accoring to our friend/dr the tape on the pump now has the pump "on" and so are all of my womanly organs. :) And almost no cramping whatsoever. No nausea, throwing up or even having to use a heating pad. Just saying, I know you all think I'm nuts but I think she has something here, plus, she's using the same thing on my mom who has had issues all her life and she's getting better. Actually I just ran into a friend today, she's been like deathly ill for months and she's almost completely better and the only things she has done are what our mutial friend/dr has suggested and worked through with her. It's sounds crazy but it's not. Originally my OB put me on progesterone pills for the first 10 days of every month, and then my periods would be lighter and go away on time and the cramps were better. I would have stayed on that pill, but my endocrinologist was worried about any hormones (the progesterone or birth control) so I went off. Of course all the bad things happened again, and we asked my OB for the lowest dosage birth control pill, to try to appease the endo and get some relief. (personally I'm pretty sure with the pill I'm on know to keep everything under control I'm on way more hormones than if I would have stayed with the progesterone, but he doesn't complain anymore =P) Even on the pill I have some cramping so I would say it probably worked about the same. Just something to bring up to your OB as a different option.

Forum Post: Re: Being a girl SUCKS!!!!!

I'm right there with you, my BG sky rockets and I just have to wait a couple days and it evens out.

Also, you're correct. I talked to my doctor about it and he told me that if Im going to work out, the meal before I do I should give myself less insulin. Example: at dinner I normally get a 8 to 1 ratio of novalog, If I work out I give myself a 10 to 1 ratio. So if Im working out after dinner and I eat 50 carbs for dinner, I will take 5 units of novalog instead of 6 units. This works for me. Sometimes if I know Im going to work out for a long time or do something very strenuous I will do an 11 to 1 ration

Forum Post: Re: Pregnant with Type 1 - Anyone else out there?

Hi Nikki! No, I am happy top report that this September will be 23 years of Diabetes for me and I have NO SYMPTIONS of complications. My eye Dr told me that by looking at my eyes he would never guess that I was a daibetic, let alone for so long. My kidneys are great as well! I check my glucose often, something 24+ times per day, espcecially while pregnant. I have and have used the CGM, but I always felt it took too long to calculate the correct number. Mind you, I sky-rocket on occassion, even in pregnancy, but that is why I check often. Now as my kids are small, I am with them alone all day and some nights, therefore I cannot get low or too high. Especially when I drive. I was also told that kids may not be in my future and my previous OB said I would NEVER be able to have children. Now on my thrid, I just wonder if these Doctors feel the right to impose their opions on young naive patients whom trust them just so they feel in control. Regardless, get a second opinion and do what you feel is right. Diabetes shouldn't dictate your life, however you should dictate your diabetes. Take control and win. Get the life you want! I have no regrets, beside waiting so long. I am now 32 and I worry about the typical age-related issues with maternity, i.e. genetic diseases are more common in older mothers like down syndrome, heart issues, etc... but most doctors suggest testing for such things like genetic issues at 35 years. I just get paranoid being already high-risk. Long story short, do what you feel is right. Get healthy as possible so you are as strong as possible during pregnancy and after! Diabetes is the hardest caring and chasing around kids, keeping up with them and a house. I honestly preferred to sit at my desk behind a computer than all the 24/7 work I do now as a full-time mommy! lol!

I wish you the best and all the luck in your future!

Vicky

p.s. I just found out that I am having a girl! We already have 2 boys so this is so exciting!!!

Forum Post: Re: Being a Mother

My endo had good advice when my son was born -- he said the chances of him developing T1 are so low, that I shouldn't test his BG every time I'm worried, or test him on a regular basis.
