My one year anniversary is next week and my family and I want to "celebrate", but have no idea how. Any ideas?
( I wanted to play pin the needle on the guest, but no one else liked that idea)
my first diabetic b-day was not even a week after i was diagnosed i didn't do any fun things like stick needles into guest (sounds like fun) i just did what i normally do i just made sure mom counted the carbs in her home made cake.

Well what i did was talk to my doctor, my specialist said holidays and birthdays and special occasions i could understand that your gonna eat crazy and everything. he expects higher numbers during those occasions. i could understand maybe if you just got diagnosed a couple days or weeks before but other than that you should be able to enjoy yourself, just make you do your shots as well as checking your glucosee.

Diagnosed on 12-9-07. one of the scariest days of my life.
I never celebrate my anniversaries lol. In fact, I usually get quite depressed. But then I remember "Hey, it's another year I've gotten to live because I found out what was wrong with me". Then I feel a lot better. :) But I guess I would say bring on the ice cream cake!

If God thinks I can handle it, bring it on!
my parents bought me a charm bracelet with one charm my first year. every year after that they have bought me a charm to add to it:) so i have 6 charms for 6 years right now! its a lot of fun and along with showing how long ive had diabetes, it shows how my interests have changed:)
hopefully i can get a charm bracelet soon! i just got diagnosed at the end of march this year!
haha pin the needle on the guest, i like it!

You could have a glucose tablet toss, ask guests to guess how many used test strips you have in your meter case, ask them to best estimate the carb count of a complicated meal, and everyone could test their blood (non-diabetics always like to do that).
I've never had a party myself to celebrate the anniversary, but it could be fun!

My 1-year anniversary is Sunday, March 11 :D Coincidentally, it is also my younger sister's birthday. Wouldn't want to steal any of her thunder lol. By the way I'm 18.

My diabetic birthday is July 25th! Which is the day after my real birthday... I was diagnosed when I was 10 years old so this year will be my 5th year anniversary! I just have to say though getting diabetes was the worst birthday gift ever!
Diagnosed July 25th, 2007
Oops! I didn't mean to post that twice! Oh well! Sorry! :)
