My son is 11 (well 12 come July) and he too wears his pump in his pocket. He'll clip it to the inside of his pocket when he wears the clip or just put it down into his pocket when he has it in the case. A friend's co-worker has on. She alway manage s to knock against something and the Omnipod detaches. Think of what you will be doing that day and then decided where to put it. I have the traditional pump w/ a short cord 23". The 42" cord is the problem.

I have a 522 paradigm, and I set the alarm to remind me to test Bloodsugars and take vitamins. I disllike the font size @ the very top of the screen. It's too small. The tubing sometimes get tangled. Other then that I love it. Last, sometimes the tape leaves scars.
