Pizza Talk for Teens & Young Adults

Adolescence is a tough time for all kids and their parents. Teenagers and young adults with diabetes carry extra burdens along with the ordinary concerns that go along with high school and college. That child or young adult who was always so good about type 1 diabetes management, or was recently diagnosed, may suddenly rebel against the routine.

Research has shown that support groups for teens with type one diabetes are extremely beneficial to the participants overall well-being. JDRF is here to support you. We will be there to support you, to link themes, to create a feeling of safety, and to offer topics.

Come out Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. and join other teens and young adults as we sit, talk and enjoy some pizza.

It’ll be a fun-packed fall day with hayrides and a garden-to-table, diabetic friendly, food presentation by guest chefGeoffrey Heyde of The Village Anchor. He’ll be making a healthy meal with fresh produce from Foxhollow Farms. It’ll be a great presentation with a local nutritionist presenting healthy food tips!

I recently heard that the Charlotte JDRF auctions off a puppy each year at their fundraiser. Does anyone know if this is true?
