Which Pump to Choose?
Erin
Hi guys, my MiniMed Paradigm 515 just completely gave up on me and stopped working (was super glitchy) and it turns out that it was no longer under warrenty. I am shopping for a new pump and need some advice. I was pretty satisfied with MM and have been using their pumps since I started insulin pump...

Need advice on pumps
Nicole
I need some advice from my fellow insulin pumpers. I am considering changing the pump that I am currently using and wanted to know what other people think of the pumps they are using. I am currently using an Omnipod pump, (and a Dexcom CGM) and have been since 2010. I have been having A LOT of issues...

Re: How do you count carbs?

Carlos, I have been a diabetic since before 1968, T1 since 1971, and on multiple injections a day until my pump 4 years ago. It is a beautiful thing compared to 5 injections/day. My A1c has been in the 6.2 to 7.0 range with the pump, higher toward the end of the injection period. I use the box side for...

The Day My Pump Was Lifted
Abbey
This is an account of my pump getting lifted while we were living in Argentina. While it was terrifying at the time, I find it quite amusing now. It was written by my husband on our travelblog in an interview fashion. It's entertaining to read in his sarcastic tone of voice and I thought you all...

Re: MI or Pump
FatCatAnna
Hey Joe - I was a human dart board (aka MDI) for 40 years prior to giving the pump a go :). My A1C's with MDI were in the 7% range - not sure what yours are with your method of control. I decided to try pumping after a friend of mine who'd only been Type 1 for 10 years, bugged me about giving...

food choices and compliance
Barbara S
I am a 45 year veteran of type 1. Even after all this time I still have trouble with the food choices I make, including binging and "closet" eating. I pay the price by feeling crummy and at age 60 I am really frightened by what I am doing to my body. Can any one relate? There is more to control...

Re: A1c and frustration!!!!
FatCatAnna
Hey Chelsea, First, GREAT A1C!!!! I hear your frustration - and please don't feel like a "crud" - far from it - diabetes is a 24/7 job - it's tough. I've only been pumping about 3 years now (Animas 2020) and recently was experiencing unusual highs (up in the 400's - very scary...

Re: Insulin response time

I also have trouble in the mornings. I am on a pump and just got a cgm about 2 days ago. My morning blood sugars when I get up are great, then as soon as I start going- they go up. I feel like I have a much slower metabolic rate in the morning and am thinking about 1- talking with my endo about dealing...

relationship issues
kneazle_lady
If this accidentally lands in the open forum section, please immediately remove it, and place it in the Adult group. I am not quite as angry as I was a bit ago, but here goes. I have been in a relationship with a non type 1 for going on seven years. Seven long years. Please, no one who reads this, think...

Re: how long type 1?
FatCatAnna
I've had diabetes for 41 years now. I've had a few complications from diabetes - but nothing that I can't cope with - trigger finger, frozen shoulder, diabetic mastopathy (got a whole new *** out of that complication due to doctor not knowing what it was UNTIL I presented him with the facts...

Re: Trouble with Infustion Sites
swats43
I hae had Diabetes for 51 years. I have used the pump for about five years. I have never heard of fat dying (I wish it would). I do know that using the same site causes a kind of callus build up which makes the site no longer viable. In my case, pn pccasion, I have to move infusions and start over. Sometimes...

Trouble with Infustion Sites
Rachel Shreffler
I have had diabetes for almost 3 years and have been on the pump for 2 1/2 years. I am having trouble with finding sites as I am only 110 lbs. My sites on my abdomen and hip have started getting big dimples" and My Dr. says that the fat has died there and will never grow back. Has anyone else had...

Re: Dating and Diabetes..
Ana
Hehe. This is a good question, actually, because I've experienced it, too. I _have_ to explain on every first date why my bra is beeping. Why? I wear my pump in my bra. And man, it really makes a man uncomfortable to see a woman he's interested in reaching into her bodice. And then it makes me...
