“Our Everyday Heroes” Race Car Design Contest for JDRF, hosted by Motorcraft / Quick Lane Tire and Auto Centers
We invite all kids living with T1D (ages 5–18) to enter their original designs in the “Our Everyday Heroes” Race Car Design Contest for JDRF, hosted by Motorcraft/Quick Lane Tire and Auto Centers. The contest lets the public vote on their favorite submissions by making a donation to JDRF and fueling T1D research progress. One lucky winner will receive the trip of a lifetime to see his/her design featured on the Motorcraft and Quick Lane Racing Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car driven by JDRF friend Bob Tasca III! Go to http://fordracecar.jdrf.org/ to learn more about how to enter! Submissions are accepted until March 13.

The Honeymoon Phase
After a T1D diagnosis, a person may go through a period of time in which his/her existing beta cells are still functioning, making your diabetes care seem like a breeze. But like most honeymoons… it doesn’t last forever! How long did your honeymoon period last? Talk about it with others in the Newly Diagnosed Group.

At Wits’ End
Raising a teen can been difficult, but, raising a teen with T1D can be even more exhausting for a parent. How do you help a teen who is going through diabetes burnout? Share your tips with this parent who is at her wits’ end!

Miss Manners

This week, the diabetes online community  [DOC] created a firestorm over a Miss Manners advice column in the Washington Post, when the advice was to go to the bathroom on a plane to check your blood sugar instead of in your seat. Then there was a strange twist on the story when we found out the column was actually written by Miss Manners’ T1D son! Read and comment about what you think about it all HERE.

See you next week!

Happy Friday
